My Summer Jobs

Well another summer comes to an end and its time to return to University for another year of boring lectures, parties and hangovers.

At least this year I’ve saved some useful cash from a variety of jobs this summer. I’ve been dead jealous of my mates who’d headed off to Europe and various other places. But at least I now have a healthy bank balance, unlike the state it was in at the start of the summer.

I started the summer with a cleaning job working in various Heathrow hotels. That was really hard work, with early starts and tight time schedules to stick to. I take my hat off to the hard working people who do that work all year round.

But what I really wanted was a driving job as I’d passed my driving test during the previous academic year. So when a friend told me of an opportunity at Stansted airport I jumped at it. I became a valet, parking and retrieving cars for people in the maze of Stansted airport parking lots. This was a great job, giving me the opportunity to drive all sorts of fantastic cars. From really smart BMWs right through to classic Morgans and people gave me some great tips.

While working at Stansted I met a guy who was so impressed with my driving that he asked if I’d be interested in working for his car leasing and contract hire firm. The pay on offer was considerably more than I was getting as a car parking valet and there was a bonus as well. So after only two weeks working as a valet I was off to yet another job. This time delivering cheap lease cars to customers throughout the south east.

I loved this job and my ex boss has said that there is a job there for me at Christmas and Easter if I want it. I enjoyed the work so much that I am now considering a career in the motor trade when I finish my degree. This was definitely one of the best summers I’ve had.
